(Dan Rice) ** SUMMARY ** Africa & Haiti USA & Europe Interior Design Gilles started his career in architecture and planning in 1965 with a highly regarded French Urban planner (Jean Dick, Strasbourg, France). During the 70s, he worked with some of the best architectural/planning firms in New York City, notably (John M. Johansen, Marquis & Stoller and several others). He started working internationally in 1977, first in Iran with HAUS International (Housing And Urban Services), then focused on Africa and Haiti. Starting 1980, he worked initially with NGOs (Non Governmental Organizations) such as the Cooperative Housing Foundation, Washington DC) and subsequently with several United Nations agencies (UNDP, UNCDF, UNESCO, UNCHS/Habitat, DDSMS and UNOPS). Since the mid 90s, he worked as Senior Portfolio Manager / regular Officer in Charge of the Division 1 for Africa (UNOPS) until December 2004. During his 40-year career, Gilles contributed to the improvement of many lives. To make available his rich professional experience to the world, he is now the Managing Partner of his own firm HARMONIS International founded in 2006, providing Services for sustainability of Development and alleviation of poverty, in the fields of Habitat, Architecture, Monitoring of projects, and Infrastructure.
